On Saturday 17 November 2018, members of Scarsdale Lodge 681,their wives/partners and guests were transported back to the 1940’s as they enjoyed the fabulous entertainment provided by the wonderful girl trio “The Bluebirds“. Some really got into the spirit of the evening by donning their best 1940 style clothes and hairdos.
During the evening, while some gentlemen took their ladies for a whirl around the dance floor to the toe tapping sounds of the 40’s, others enjoyed a good old sing along to tunes from wartime sweethearts Dame Vera Lynne and Gracie Fields. The theme and the music stirred memories of a time gone by, of a people united in struggle and pride, with tales being told of loved ones never forgotten who gave unselfishly of themselves to provide us with the opportunity to enjoy evenings such as this.
Thomson Jarvis did a great job transforming the Lodge into a Union Jack bunting street party scene, with plenty of spares to go round for a good bit of flag waving to popular tunes.
Fantastic entertainment, thoroughly enjoyed by all. The evening was rounded off with a hearty rendition of Land of Hope and Glory accompanied by a sea of flag waving.
Scarsdale very much look forward to welcoming The Bluebirds back to the Lodge sometime in the future for what can only be described as a fabulous night out.
